Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those who need it the most in a developing country? Join The Humanos Institute for a transformational trip that will develop your innovation and responsible leadership skills as you tackle the important issues of financial inclusion, sustainable micro-enterprise, and water security in rural Nicaragua. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team who will co-create, along with the local community, a scalable and sustainable solution to these issues through Design Thinking, a powerful methodology for creating innovative pathways out of poverty.

We are partnering with Global Brigades, the world’s largest student volunteer organization, to introduce microfinance, micro-enterprise, and water security to the communities of El Hatillo and San Gabriel, Nicaragua. Following the core principles of human-centered design, we will be setting the community’s needs and interest as the main priority as we co-develop micro-enterprises with them that aids in the successful establishment of a community bank, as well as co-creating sustainable solutions to water scarcity in the region.  This project will take you through a rigorous Design Thinking training, with a hands-on approach that includes being introduced to new Design Thinking concepts in the morning that are then applied in the community later that day.

These projects are extending and building on our previous work that in December of 2015 and their results will be scaled throughout different communities in Nicaragua, impacting thousands of people.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the developing world while learning new skills. Benefits include:

  • Coaching and mentorship from Design Thinking experts that will fully immerse you in the human-centered design process and provide you the tools to create a change through social innovation.
  • A transformative experience that will challenge the way you think and how you tackle problems. Whether you are in Business, Engineering, Health, Social Science, Arts, Law, or any other discipline you will be able to develop solutions that are truly innovative by taking a human-centered approach.
  • Real world leadership experience and the opportunity to step outside your comfort zone to reimagine the world you live in and the impact you can have.

The Humanos Institute is non-for-profit dedicated to marrying the mind of business with the heart of humanity to transform the lives of the disadvantaged. We bring multi-disciplinary teams to co-create innovative, scalable and sustainable solutions to the most pressing problems of our times using the Design Thinking approach.
